In this role, you’ll make a difference in the lives of people with substance use challenges, and often with co-occurring conditions. You’ll use and grow your skills in compassionate care, crisis intervention and de-escalation, in a supportive and inclusive work environment. You’ll have the opportunity to help people who are just discovering possibilities in their journey, going from a place of hopelessness to a place where they are valued and have the potential for a better life.

The main responsibilities of a Recovery Specialist are to be warm and welcoming, complete phone screenings, intakes, referrals, and discharges, collaborate and communicate with providers, documentation of participants needs, access county databases to determine eligibility of county services, provide participants with snacks, hygiene kits and clothes as needed, and assist in the daily responsibilities in keeping a clean and healthy environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Monitor and observe Recovery Station participant behavior and activity to ensure participants are safe, accounted for and stable.
  • Must work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team at the Recovery Station
  • Create and maintain a safe, welcoming environment for all participants and visitors.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and organization daily.
  • Provide help with transportation and emergency response.

What will make you successful in this role?

  • Must be able to work full-time including weekends and holidays.
  • Registered and actively working on certification as Substance Abuse Counselor in CA is recommended.
  • Experience working with individuals that feel overwhelmed or in a crisis.
  • Experience working with intoxicated individuals.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and culture.
  • Experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders and disabilities.
  • Knowledge of alcoholism/addiction treatment and Motivational Interviewing concepts and techniques
  • Able to handle and de-escalate emergency situations.
  • Must show a demonstrated knowledge of computers; including but not limited to, data input, internet navigation, Microsoft word, etc.
  • Ability to write/type clear narrative reports and notes.

What else is required?

  • Valid California driver’s license with a good driving record and car insurance.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certificate.
  • Fingerprinting/drug testing required at time of hire.
  • Current flu vaccine/flu shot.

Salary:  $23-24 per hour Depending on Experience
